In America they were commonly used to bait bears and such and have been bred for dog fighting so they have a reputation for being quite vicious
I personally have never met a chow that was aggressive
i was a police officer and I took more dog bite reports involving Chows 2nd only to Pit bulls over all other dogs. Pit bull attacked were much more damaging than other dogs. I find the Chow to be beautiful dogs I had a girl friend with three and her dogs were sweet hearts. My wife and I have Pomeranian dogs that kind of look like little Chows . i love your videos.

I mean dog markets are still up and running in China so I wouldn’t say “they have come away from there horrible past.”

My sister in law raised Chows for years, had quite a few champions in her lines, they are amazing dogs, I will agree they are protective and as with any animal, if they are abused they can become mean. Like the lady says tho, it’s all in how you interact with any dogs. You must have respect. I had 2 and loved mine very much. ❤
People need to stop saying any breed is “vicious” or “has a mean streak”, its all in the breeding and the raising of the dog. Owners make dogs aggressive; the dogs are often doing what they think is wanted from them based on treatment/training or how they’ve been raised. Great ep as always, those Chow Chow loved you. :3
I have a chow chow mix with husky & she is simply an amazing guard dog❤ she definitely got more from her chow side because she acts exactly like these dogs bonus that she’s my fluffy sweetheart 😍

I’m a proud Chow Chow owner. Mine is temperamental and quite possessive. He’s very alert with strangers and doesn’t let anyone touch him. Like what she said, the male ones are not very social and has a hard time with other breeds. But despite of it, they are sweet and loves cuddles. Their behavior can be a little hard to predict in an unfamiliar environment, as they are the guarding type and very protective of their owners.
